Making a Transparent Gif
1. Set your foreground to null and your background to a color
that is not in your graphic. I chose a light gray ( #C0C0C0)
1. First, click on the background area of your
graphic with your magic wand using the following settings:
Match Mode: RGB Value
Tolerance: 20
Feather : 0
Anti-Alias not checked
2. Selections/modify/expand /1 pixel/ok
3. Delete (this will remove the white background) and
leave the background color of your chose.
4. Go to Image/Palette/set palette transparencies

5. A window will pop up like the one below.
Click ok.

6. A new window will pop up. Click on
Set the transparency value to the current background color.
Then click ok.

7. To check your transparency go to
images/palette/view transparency.
This is what you should have at this point

To save go to export/gif
Use the settings on the following graphic.

Then click on Partial Transparency and make sure you
use the settings as below. Then click ok.

Finally click on colors and use the settings as
shown. Click ok.

Then name graphic and save to your file folder.
