MY MOTHER

My Mother is a very strong lady.  You'd have to be to raise 5 children.  There were times when we were growing up that my father was out to sea (He was in the Navy) so there'd just be my mother, my sisters, my brothers and me.

She has survived through my father's heart trouble and eventual death in 1980, the death of my youngest sister at the age of 45  in 1996 to a heart attack, and then last year her oldest grandson (my son)  passed away at the age of 35 to endocarditis.  I was afraid that would be the last of what she could handle. But thank God I was wrong as she continued to prove yet again how strong she is.   And, now her toughest fight of all is being waged.  She was diagnosed with in-operable lung cancer in January of this year.   She is facing this with all the determination and will to live as she has everything else that life has thrown her way.   If sheer determination can do it, I know she will beat this also.

In addition to raising 5 children she has 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.   You can just imagine the happy confusion when we all get together.

She is the type of women who will go out of her way to help a friend in need, and family is everything to her.  She is the type of women I hope my children will think I am.

Mom, I Love You
